At Service Companion Dogs of America (SCDOA), we believe in the transformative power of service dogs. Our non-profit organization, a 501(c)(3), was established to help individuals who could benefit from the assistance of a Service Dog. Our mission is to provide highly trained dogs, free of charge, along with guidance and education to the recipient in how to utilize and interact with their service dog. Additionally, we offer free educational programs to the general public to raise awareness of the importance and responsibilities associated with Service Dogs.
At Service Companion Dogs of America (SCDOA), our mission is to provide Service Dogs to those in need, completely free of charge. We couldn’t do it without the support and generosity of people like you.
We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in the recruitment of our dogs and trainers. However, achieving these standards, along with the necessary diverse training environments, requires a significant investment of time and resources. Many of our well-trained Service Dogs represent an investment of up to fifty thousand dollars by the time they are matched with their recipient.
The bond between a highly trained SCDOA Service Dog and their recipient is one of unconditional love and loyalty. This is only possible because of the volunteer and financial support of people who understand the life-changing impact that these wonderful Service Dogs have on those they serve. Your involvement in supporting SCDOA means that another individual can benefit from the remarkable experience of having an SCDOA Service Dog.
Our greatest need at the moment is for qualified Puppy Raisers. If you are willing and able to welcome one of our specially selected puppies into your home for six to eighteen months, we encourage you to consider joining our Puppy Raiser Program. During this time, you will nurture and socialize the puppy in a variety of environments with support from SCDOA’s team.
If the puppy masters basic obedience commands, progresses satisfactorily in temperament and physical development, it may become a candidate for our Advanced Puppy Training Program (APTP).
Our goal is to provide highly trained Golden Retrievers to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay. Breeding, training, and placing Service Dogs is expensive, and over 70% of people who need Service Dogs nationwide cannot afford them. That’s why we founded SCDOA as a registered 501c3 non-profit organization to support people with a wide variety of disabilities.
We are committed to growing our program and training and placing more dogs in the field. With your help, we can put more highly trained Golden Retrievers in the grateful hands of those who need them. Donations are critical to our mission as there is no government funding for Service Dog schools. Your donation will directly support our program services, with 90% of funds going towards our cause.
We understand that not everyone can make a large donation, but every little bit counts. No donation is too small, and all donations are 100% tax-deductible. Checks can be made out to “Service Companion Dogs of America” and mailed to our address, and we will provide a receipt for your donation.
